Portalocity was weird. Ringo hadn't really traveled with them much, so this was something of a revelation for her. Somehow booking a reasonable late-morning departure from Fandom resulted in a just-after-dawn arrival in a small park a couple of miles from the apartment she shared with her sisters. Of course, despite that, all three of them were waiting.

Rika, with her knowing, motherly smile, managing to look like a carefully-styled model even this early. Mikan, tomboyish hair cropped short and sticking out every which way, smirking mischievously and tapping her foot with nervous energy. Ume, seated on a bench playing with her dolls, but glancing up and meeting Ringo's eyes when she arrived.

With a grin, Ringo dropped her bags and rushed forward into a big group hug, melting into the group for a moment. All worry and stress disappearing in the blink of an eye.

"Now then," Rika said as they eventually disentangled themselves, "why don't you introduce everyone, and then we can go get some breakfast?"

"So we'll find someone to take on in a Group Dash. Basically, it's a team competition where you set a course, and the team to get someone across the finish line first wins." She grinned. "There are rules about not injuring people, but contact is definitely allowed, and the tactics are all about blocking the other team while keeping the lead for yourself."

"...So, rocket-powered roller derby," Kathy said, nodding. Her eyes traced the space again, looking for optimum routes and paths she could use. "I'm game. Don't know how useful I'll be at keeping people off of us, but that's why we brought this guy along."

"So no punching people, but shoving's okay?" Dante asked.

Look, he was a DPS guy, not a tank. ... well, maybe compared to present company, but still.

"Shoving, body blocking, that sort of thing. There are people who play full-contact, but I don't know if we're ready to play against any of them." Ringo grinned. "So it sounds like we're going to have Kathy stay out front, and Dante and I'll keep anyone from getting to her?"

"Works for me," Kathy said. "I should be agile enough to avoid the people you two don't catch. And if it looks like we need the boost, Dante can just fling me a bit."

Possibly from several feet up in the air.

Hers was not a nice smile. "These guys have no idea what they're in for."

"Wait, I get to throw the superball?" Dante said, smirking. "This plan is getting better and better."

"So if we're all ready..." Ringo grinned, waving her hand broadly to signal at a group milling around, and apparently it was enough to peel off a trio. A young man and a woman, and then a slightly younger guy following along behind them.

"You're new," the girl observed, looking bored.

Ringo's grin widened. "Friendly team Dash?" she suggested, eyes sparkling.

"Why would we waste our time with you?" the younger guy asked.

In answer, Ringo just held up a little piece of painted metal. All three pairs of eyes went wide. "Is that real?"

"You don't think people just go around carrying counterfeit Sleeping Forest badges, do you? Sounds like a recipe for getting beat up."

"Yeah," the girl nodded slowly. "Only an idiot would mess with the Thorn Queen from what I've heard." She shrugged, then grinned. "This suddenly got a lot more interested. You're on."

A quick couple of minutes to establish the bounds of the track, and Ringo turned to her companions. "Ready?"
