Room 406, Friday Afternoon

Ringo was actually surprised to find out just how much make-up she owned. When she'd first come to Fandom, her tiny collection of lip glosses plus her one eye shadow and blush (neither of which got much use) had fit in a single little bag. Now her collection spread out over most of her desk. Sure, most of it had gotten tried once and then stuffed into the back of drawers as not quite her color or too much work to get just right, but she still hadn't realized just how much of the stuff she'd picked up over the course of two years.

She shook her head and grinned as she grabbed a cookie from the box that occupied one of the spare corners of the desk. Apparently she should clean up more often. She'd found a couple of unopened boxes of Girl Scout cookies stashed with some of her unused make-up. Ringo wasn't sure how she'd lost track of cookies, but she couldn't really complain right that moment because, well, cookies!

And now it was going to be a race between Ringo's appetite and her expected guests arriving. She wondered how many cookies would be left!

So the downside to working in a clothing store was that Alluka had spent hours and hours and hours looking at dresses and had wound up buying a few.

"Ringo," she wailed, as she wandered in with an armful of dresses, "I don't know what dress to wear anymore!"

It was the end of the world (okay, not really) and Ringo had better have cookies and an answer for her.

Ringo giggled as she looked over the wild array of fabric. "Hmm, maybe you can wear them all at the same time?"

That probably wouldn't work.

"Put those down on the bed," Ringo directed with a grin. "They're in the way." Of Ringo's plan to hug Alluka.

That wouldn't work at all!

"They wouldn't all fit at the same time, Ringo!" Alluka protested, even as she did as she was told and gently set her dresses down on the bed.

"Did you try it already?" Ringo teased as she stepped over and pulled Alluka into a quick hug.

She half-glanced at the pile of dresses and chuckled. "Are these all new?"

Well, that hug did make her feel a little better. Alluka liked hugs.

"All but one," she admitted. "I got my work shift moved to Fridays and, and then I realized it was Prom tonight and there were an awful lot of pretty dresses..."

And impulse control was not one of Alluka's strong points.

Ringo shook her head and giggled. "Sounds like you need to come up with more reasons to wear pretty dresses," Ringo decided.

She also put on a mock pout. "Also, it doesn't look like any of these will fit me." Especially given that Alluka and Ringo had totally different builds.

Alluka giggled, almost despite herself.

"Definitely not in any way that suit you," she said, shaking her head.

"Stingy," Ringo teased. As if her closet wasn't filled to bursting with her own collection of dresses that she hadn't managed to make a decision about yet, either. The last thing she needed was more options.

"But I'm kind of serious," she added. "Since you can only wear one of these tonight, we need to find some good chances for you to wear the others!" And, you know, Ringo could use the same opportunities.

Dresses did have a tendency to multiply, it was true.

"Maybe we'll have to start our own parties," she mused. "Or, or maybe weekly fancy teas?"

"Oh, I like where your head's at," Ringo nodded in approval. "Though maybe we should do whatever it is somewhere public?" She grinned. "Half the fun of dressing up is letting people see how awesome you look, right?"

"The weather's getting nice," she said, thinking a moment. "And, and the park would be nice. I bet if we asked nicely Papa Hannibal would help us with food each week."

"Oh! Outdoor fancy tea!" If Ringo's glittering eyes were anything to go by, she definitely approved of this plan.

"And we can try out different teas and snacks and things!"

Alluka clapped her hands together and laughed.

"But, but first--we have to get through tonight!"

"I suppose we should do things in order."

She pursed her lips. "I guess we should pick dresses first?"

[that_oldsaying]

"But how are we supposed to pick?!"

She gazed at her pile of dresses doubtfully.

Ringo grinned. "I'm pretty sure we have to try them all on, take pictures, and then decide once we've seen what they all look like."

Obviously.

It was a good thing they'd started this so early.

It... it REALLY was.

Alluka giggled. "At least we can't keep adding clothes here."

Or else they'd never finish.

"So. We should clearly take turns. Are you doing one of your dresses first, or do I?"

The other person would have to keep themselves occupied with snacks.

"Ooooh!"

Alluka looked torn for a moment.

"You first," she decided. "Since it's your room we're all in."

"Okay!" Ringo grinned.

"You'll help take care of these cookies in the meantime, right?"

Ringo didn't wait for the answer, since she already knew what it would be. She went over to her closet, grabbed a red dress, and started to change.

Alluka just giggled, sitting down on the bed beside her dresses, and reaching for the cookies.

Fortunately, Ringo's penchant for simple, shorter skirts meant she could put on most of her dresses pretty quickly.

"Tada!" she declared once she looked in the mirror to confirm that she had the thing on properly.

She did a little spin, grinning as her skirt flare out. "What do you think?"

Alluka chewed on her cookie thoughtfully.

"It's a really pretty dress," she said, because it was. "But, um, it doesn't--really flatter your chest, Ringo."

Ringo was way too busty for a style like that.

Ringo wrinkled her nose. "Yeah," she sighed. "But I love the patterns and stuff. Even if it is a bit, um, tight."

So this one probably wasn't going to work.

"But! It's your turn now!"

"Oh!" Ringo's eyes lit up. "Let me know if you want to borrow this one!" Since it actually might flatter Alluka's build.
