"You know, the floor of the blimp wasn't that bad a place to sleep," Ringo announced. And then immediately belied her claim by grimacing as she stretched to pop her back again.

Once she was feeling a little bit loosened up again, Ringo looked around. "Too bad we don't really have time to really explore the city. I mean, this place looks like it's got as much neat stuff going on as Yorknew City did." But their wallets were pretty much empty, and Ringo really wanted a room and a bed to sleep in tonight.

Ringo's eyes swept the city skyline, then went wide. "Whoa! Is that Heaven's Arena?" The building was huge.

"Do you think that, after we've made enough for a hotel, we can AirTrek on it?" Hopefully that wouldn't be against the rules.

This was so exciting! Two phone calls in two days!

It was worth holding back from the arena a little to see who it was!

"Alluka, hey, what's up?" Dante asked, grinning.

He wasn't feeling all that chipper, but it was hard not to mirror back her excitement.

That was a voice she hadn't heard for a while! Sorry, Dante, for that squeal of excitement.

"Dante!" He couldn't see it, but she was bouncing. "It's been forever! Hihihi! How're you? Ringo and I are on a roadtrip! And we slept last night on a blimp! And now we're two continents away from everything else we've seen!"

"Eh, I'm alright," Dante said. "Sounds like my life's not as exciting as yours right now, though. Where you at?"

"We're in my world," she said, letting him get away with not telling her anything. "And, and we're going to see how we can do in Heaven's Arena, which is where people fight for prizes. Ringo says it should be okay, but I'm probably going to be terrible."

Oh well. She snapped a picture of the outside of the arena and sent it to him.

"Look how big it is! Ringo says I'll do alright in the tower but she's always like that."

"Wait, you're gonna fight?" Dante asked.

He sank down in a seat, frowning. "Didn't know you knew how to do that."

"I don't, really," she said cheerfully.

This was a terrible, terrible plan that she and Ringo had come up with.

"But Ringo says I'm a quick learner and that I can use AirTrek to help me out--I don't know about offensively, but at least I'll be able to dodge--and it'll serve as good practice, I guess, since we decided we want to try to take the Hunter's exam in January and you do need to fight for that."

"... So is Ringo teaching you how to fight?"

Because he'd gotten a few punches thrown at him by Ringo in his time.

Yeah.

"Nnnot really?" Alluka said. "She said she'd give me a few pointers?"

"Jesus fucking christ," Dante muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose.

Oh. That... that sounded like he was not on board with this plan.

"It'll be okay," she said, trying to be reassuring. Alluka had no idea of it'd be okay. "Everything else we've tried so far has worked out eventually."

"Alluka, you can't walk into a fight without knowing what the fuck you're doing," Dante said. "You're gonna get your ass kicked all over."

"That's not what Ringo said," she said, in a smaller voice. "And, and even if I lose, the prize is the same in the first round."

"Ringo's overconfident like, all the time," Dante said, rubbing at his forehead. "I don't want you to get hurt."

"Me neither," she admitted. "I don't like being hurt. But we were running out of money and didn't want to ask my Papas for any, because I've never done anything on my own before. And, and this way we can make money."

"I can send you some money," Dante said quietly. "And, I don't know - if you still wanna fight later on? I can help. I know how."

Alluka hesitated.

"But, but I want to try on my own," she said carefully. "I appreciate you offering money, but I don't want it from my Papas or my friends."

"Okay," Dante said.

Look, he was worried. Didn't mean he was gonna try and force anything on her.

"Just... let me know if you need some help figuring out how to fight later, okay?"

In that aspect, he was super different from her Papas. Alluka wasn't going to be mentioning any money problems to them at all because she didn't think they'd take her no for an answer.

"I'd like help with that, when I'm back on the island," she said, more brightly. "I hadn't really thought of who to ask for help yet, when it came to that. We only thought of being Hunters a day or so ago."

"I might not be on the island by the time you get back," Dante admitted. "But call me and I'll be there. Promise."

That was... that was sad news.

"Oh."

"Sorry, 'Luka," Dante said wryly. "I got stuff to do back home, and you're like the only person I know outside of, like, Kathy and Anders who's left on the island, you know?"

"It's still sad," she said, "though if you have stuff to do at home, it makes sense. But you will visit? And, and I could come visit you! Or even help you, if you want?"

She was not likely to be any help at all, but she'd try her best.

"Then that's good," she said happily. "And you can come visit my world too! I know it a lot better than I used to now."
