Shiemi didn't have a personal phone, so she'd pleaded with hotel staff to let her make a long-distance call. "Seeeemmmpaiiiiiiiii?! Where aaaaare you?" Her voice was fairly shaking. She hadn't seen Ringo-Sempai at the Portal and couldn't find her anywhere in the hotel... And now it was after dinner and still no sempai! They were supposed to be on the spring break trip together and they were going to have fun and Sempai was going to help Shiemi with her new swimsuit and and and "Seeeempaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiii."

Ringo blinked, then grinned at Shiemi's voice. "Huh? I'm in my room?" Duh.

"Why? What's up?"

"Y-you are?" Shiemi's lip wibbled slightly. "What room number? I couldn't find you and no one here knows who you are."

"Room 506." Just like always.

"I've told you that before, right?"

"Sempai, no teasing. What room are you in here." She wanted to check out the pool and maybe take a walk and see the beach and look for turtles and new plants and and...

"Huh?"

"What do you mean?"

"Here. At the hotel." She sighed and her head dropped. "I knew it. Did you forget? I should have made sure."

"Hotel?"

Wait.

"What!? Is Spring Break this week?"

"I knew it. You've been acting differently lately. I should have made sure you were coming." Another sigh and she gripped the phone.

"Yes. We're in a really beautiful hotel with beautiful scenery. I'm sharing a room, though. With one of the girls from our class last semester: Mary Jade, I think?"

"Awww, dang it!" Ringo screwed up her face at her phone. "I'm sorry, kohai. I was looking forward to hanging out with you, and I went and forgot all about it."

That was, to Ringo, the worst part.

NOW who was going to make her put her swimsuit on and go to the beach? Who was going to keep her from just burying herself in the flora and ignoring all her classmates? Hmm, Sempai?

"It's okay." And Shiemi smiled, trying to sound happier so Ringo wouldn't worry. "You're the one who is stuck on the cold island, not me. I was worried you were lost."

Oh, Ringo was probably still going to do that. She'd be demanding pics, after all!

She grinned. "Oh, were you going to come find me if I was?"

"Of course!" Shiemi frowned at that. "I'd find you, too. You're my friend." Weren't you?

"And your very important senpai" Ringo added, the smile very apparent in her voice.

And. She'd said 'and'.

"Exactly!" Shiemi let loose the breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding and smiled. "Though you're not being very sempai like," she teased. "Forgetting to go on your kohai's very important first school trip."

"I know!" Ringo's tone shifted from amused to apologetic. "And I'm so sorry, kohai! I feel like the worst senpai ever!"

"You can owe me lunch or something when we get back."

But Shiemi heard that shift in Ringo's tone and felt bad herself. "It's okay, really. I'm a little scared but I have Nee-chan. And there are some wonderful flowers here."

"Lunch won't even come close to covering it," Ringo insisted with a little sigh. "But I will make it up to you." It was a promise.
